British Virgin Islands is the perfect charter destination

  • Many anchorages
  • Easy sailing islands
  • Large fleet of yachts to choose from
  • Inclusive pricing
  • Beautiful beaches
  • Perfect year round weather

The British Virgin Islands is one of the most popular charter destinations in the Caribbean.  One of the main reasons is that the islands are close together in a 35 mile windward/leeward configuration that guarantees calmer waters for sailing and sheltered anchorages with crystal clear water.  A BVI yacht charter appeals to our clients because whether they are experienced sailors or first timers, the crew can accommodate to meet their expectations.

With so many charter yachts here in the BVI there is a yacht to fit any ones budget and specifications.  Unique to the Virgin Islands, compared to the rest of the world, is that we have more yachts with inclusive pricing than anywhere else.  Sailing yachts, catamarans of every size, motor yachts – they can all be chartered in the BVI.  Inclusive pricing lets you know up front how much your holiday will cost – no hidden fees.  Definitely more bang for your dollar.

Seasonally large mega-yachts head to the Caribbean, perfect for a luxurious winter BVI yacht charter. Or try the summer months when the coves are quieter for a family BVI yacht charter.

The BVI  are made up of 4 main islands and approximately 50 other smaller islands and cays. Islands such as Peter Island, Jost Van Dyke, Virgin Gorda, Saba Rock, Anegada, Cooper Island, Norman Island – all offer relaxed island beach bars and restaurants. Try moonlight dancing on the beach on Cane Garden Bay, White Bay Sandcastle or hike the trails of Norman Island.  Many of the islands are uninhabited and ideal for dropping the hook and donning snorkel and fins to explore the marine life.    You can be as active or as laid back as you want to be.  You set the pace for your holiday experience.  Change up the mix by anchoring off on your own slice of paradise or getting together with others at local hotels or restaurants. Plenty of great reefs for snorkeling or scuba diving, paddle boarding or kayaking.  Yachts are equipped with various water sports equipment for you to enjoy.  In general, the bigger the yacht the more “toys” they will have.

The British Virgin Islands climate is influenced by the tropical trade winds.  Temperatures vary approximately 10 degrees  throughout the year. Summer temps reach about 90°F in the summer and 84°F in the winter season. The official hurricane season for the tropics is from June thru November with the peak being September and October. Not withstanding the storm threat, the summer months are a lovely time to be in the Virgin Islands.   Plan your time to coincide with a full moon.  Watching a full moon rise over the Caribbean sea is a magical experience.Full moon parties have become a tradition for locals and visitor alike.

Nature graced the US & British Virgin Islands with the prefect layout for protected waters as this group of 60 islands is strung out like a necklace over 35 miles long where the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean join. In fact, although tides are minimal at 18 inches maximum, high tide is 6 hours different on the north side of the islands from the south side in the Caribbean Sea.

Getting to and from the British Virgin Islands is not difficult.  Fly directly from many US cities to neighboring St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.  Some yachts are able to pick up there or you can ferry to Tortola or take a helicopter or private flight.  There are no direct flights into the British Virgin Islands outside of the Caribbean.  From the US and one can fly into Puerto Rico and transfer to a small local airline.  From Europe, Norwegian Air is now offering fantastic deals on flights into Puerto Rico.  Alternatively, many overseas clients fly into Antigua, Barbados and St Martin for transfer to local airline to the BVI.

Packing for a BVI yacht charter is easy peasy!  Barefoot, comfortable attire is the theme aboard the yachts and casual elegance the theme when stopping in to visit the local resorts. Only a few luxury resorts require jacket and long pants for men in the evening or a cool dress for the ladies. The West Indian culture is a conservative one and locals appreciate modest attire when visitors are in the towns or clearing customs – bathing suits, very brief shorts, etc. would not be appropriate. In general, dressing is casual, and clothing should be easy-care items.
