Antigua – St. Martin 10 Day Charter
Day 1: If arriving on Antigua on the first day of your charter, taxi from the airport to Jolly Harbour to meet your yacht. Get acquainted with your home away from home, then tuck into a nice lunch while you and the captain fine-tune the itinerary for your perfect vacation. Take your first dip in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean then sail south to English Harbour, where Lord Nelson’s fleet was centered in the 18th Century. Take a cab up to Shirley Heights for spectacular panoramic views of the sun setting over the Island of Montserrat.
Day 2-3: After breakfast, set sail for the spectacular natural gem that is Barbuda. This coral island boast pale pink beaches that stretch for miles and unparalleled snorkeling opportunities. It’s also a bird sanctuary and a perfect place to watch the amazing grace of the huge frigate birds high above.
Day 4: Another gorgeous day at sea. After breakfast, set sail for Nevis, about six hours away. Find a nice bay to anchor in and claim a hammock for the day, or take a trip inland to view the island’s rainforest. American history buffs may want to tour the various sites dedicated to one of the island’s most famous children – Alexander Hamilton.
Day 5: It’s just a quick hop to nearby St. Kitts. Once you arrive, marvel at the glorious white and black sand beaches. Diving and snorkeling enthusiasts can spend the day at White House Bay exploring a 16th Century wreck, while history buffs will choose to tour the islands old sugar cane plantations.
Day 6: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and one last swim before setting off for a full day at sea. Kick back with a cocktail and a book while the captain steers you towards St. Barth’s – a five or six hour sail away. Arrive at the island’s capital, Gustavia, and pull on your best duds for a gourmet meal at one of finest French restaurants in the Caribbean. St. Bart’s is often called the Riviera of the Caribbean and it’s where the rich and powerful come to unwind…and, of course, be seen! Rent yourself a Mini-Moke – a cross between a golf cart and a jeep – and spend the morning exploring the island before returning to your yacht. Then sail up the coast to the quiet anchorage at Colombier Bay. The pristine beach lined with palm trees and backed by a steep cliff wall is the perfect place for dinner under the stars.
Day 7: Sail to Tintamarre, a small uninhabited French island off the coast of St. Martin for a quiet day of swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. You can also explore the land for various airplane wrecks left over from the island’s early airstrip.
Day 8: Sail north to Anguilla, another coral island boasting beautifully vast stretches of beach. Visit the main port of Road Bay and watch the local artisans at work. Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch before sailing on to Crocus Bay for the night. In the morning, sail around to Dog Island and Prickly Pear – a group of postcard perfect islands with spectacular snorkeling. In the afternoon, set sail for Grand Case on St. Martin where you can sample another fantastic gourmet French meal.
Day 9: Sail to Marigot, the capital of French St. Martin. Enjoy a day wandering the streets and shopping at the numerous boutiques, shops, and cafes and you’ll wonder if you’ve been transported to a small town on the coast of France. Take the time to climb the city’s old fort for a magnificent view.
Day 10: Sail to the Dutch side of the island for your last morning on board. After breakfast and a final swim, disembark either at Phillipsburg for more duty-free shopping or at Simpson Bay, near the airport.
