Captain: Nigel Wade, British
Nigel hails from the east coast of the United Kingdom where he sailed competitively from the age of seven. Whilst being a member of the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club he became UK national champion in international cadet and impala fleets. He went to sea in a more professional role at the age of 25. In 1985 he did his first Atlantic crossing as mate on board the classic 1928 motor yacht Tiger and headed for the Caribbean. This was to be the first of many transatlantic crossings. Since then he has been aboard 10 other charter and private vessels in the position of Captain. He has gathered the necessary licenses from Yachtmaster Offishore all the way to the Class 4 Masters License for yachts up to 3000 tons. Nigel is a competent Captain who puts the safety of the guests, crew and the yacht first and foremost. Nigel has sailed extensively in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, East and West Coasts of the USA as well as the Seychelles, Pacific Islands and Australia. Nigel has a pleasant personality and has an innate enthusiasm for life. He initiates activities and motivates all around him to share in these. He enjoys looking after the guests and is particularly keen to help guests improve their watersport skills.

First Mate: Howie Goldenberg, American.
Born in South Jersey, Howie considers Key West, Florida his home. After attending the University of Pittsburgh he moved to the Florida Keys to pursue a career in the Hospitality industry. Intrigued by a small community with deep sailing roots. Howe’s interest in the yachting industry grew. After the restoration of his own classic 1952 Sparkman & Steve Sloop, his ambitions brought him to Newport where he enjoyed the classic yacht regattas while racing against top America’s champions such as Intrepid, Courageous and Freedom. Since Newport, Howie has sailed the east coast of the United State, Bermuda, Mediterranean and the Caribbean, Howe Joined Mirabella III In 2002 and has done 3 trans Atlantic crossings. He also enjoys mountain biking, rollerblading, ice-hockey and many other water sports.

Chef: Sean Doyle, Canadian.
Sean’s career started in Whistler, Canada where he completed his apprenticeship at Christine’s under Chef Gerard Billings of Whistler Mountain, serving haute cuisine to the ski crowd. Summer months were spent with the West Coast Fishing Club, an elegant fly in resort. Inspired by the yachts visiting the fishing lodge, Sean joined his first motor boat in 2001. Then seeking a sailing experience he joined Mirabella III. Sean enjoys simple cuisine with full-bodied flavour that leaves the palate clean but altered. His hobbies include kendo and chess.

Engineer: Steve Sapford, British
Originally from England, Steve now calls South Africa his home where he resides with his wife and son. Steve joined Mirabella iii IN October 2004 after working on board her sistership Philanderer. He was also previously engineer on board MY Katherine which won charter boat of the year in 2002. With over 18 years in yachting, Steve is an MCA qualified engineer and also holds his Electronics Level 1. He has an extensive racing background, participating in both Fastnet and Arc offshore classics.

Chief Stewardess: Maria Gouthro, Canadian.
Before beginning her career in hospitality and tourism, Maria spent several years studying the visual arts and photography. Since then, she has worked extensively in the service industry, most recently in the remote, exclusive resorts and lodges of Canada’s majestic west coast. She first entered the world of motor yachting in 2001 with the hope of one day joining a sailing yacht and has recently joined Mirabella III. Maria likes to spend her spare time enjoying the outdoors, travelling and continuing her pursuits in the creative arts.

Stewardess: Catriona Stewart, British
Catriona was born in Southwest Scotland and recently completed her degree in Georgraphy at Edinburgh University. Her real passion for life is travelling and she is now in her second season within the world of yachting, having joined SY Mirabella III in France in November 2004. Although she has worked in many different roles within the hospitality industry, Catriona feels most at home at sea. Her hobbies include all water sports, reading and music.

Deckhand: Andrew Wright, British.
Andrew comes from Derbyshire, England and has lived there most of his life. After completing his exams at school he decided to pursue a career in sailing. Prior to joining Mirabella III for the Mediterranean season 2004 he worked in a country house manor that is now a hotel and restaurant where he gained excellent hospitality knowledge. Getting outdoors to do the things that he loves such as cycling, exploring and meeting new and interesting people is what Andrew enjoys most.
