Captain D, as he is known in the yachting industry, grew up in Ireland. A childhood of maritime activity, including sailing, yacht racing, windsurfing, surfing and fishing, led to a first part time job on a lobster boat for several summers on the wild south west coast of Ireland. Capt. D graduated with a degree in Engineering from University College Dublin having spent summers in Cape Cod working in Hyannis Yacht Club to pay his tuition. Diarmuid has since worked as an Engineer and Project Manager for several technology Companies before re-focusing on his passion for sailing. Since then Capt. D has raced in international events, delivered yachts through-out the world and project managed a marine salvage operation in Australia. Diarmuid has being Captain on board Jess Sea for the past 2 years.
