Crew Profiles: Captain: Joaquin Freire
Thirty-five years have passed since Captain Joaquin started his relationship with the sea. From working in boatyards to working on boats, he advanced in position from mate, mate/engineer to captain, never forgetting those stages he went through. From N.E. Harbour Maine to the Dry Tortugas and down the Caribbean to Trinidad, crossing the Panama Canal to the deep green waters of the Pacific, Joaquin has encountered ports of call and cultures that has enriched him in mind and in spirit. His grandfather owned four large fishing boats that went out for weeks at a time from the Gulf of Batabano in Cuba in the early 1900's. Joaquin is quoted as saying, “I am a son of a son of a sailor”. He has learned to be a man of patience and to remain calm when all around you is not. Captain Joaquin has been employed by this same owner for over eight years and some of the yachts he’s worked on were TRIANON, THE DOMINO EFFECT, THE BENGEL and TIGRESS II. His first priority is to ensure a safe journey for the guests and crew of the LADY SUSAN. Your first priority is to have fun and collect great memories. Captain Joaquin looks forward to welcoming you aboard LADY SUSAN.
1st Mate/Engineer: Michael Bosley
Michael started his nautical career sailing his own boat (a 35' C&C) and has logged many sea miles. He has cruised from the US east coast to the Caribbean and across the globe to Sri Lanka and Thailand. He is steadfast in his duties and takes great care in the maintenance of LADY SUSAN'S exterior and her mechanical workings. Besides his navigational skills he understands electrical systems, A.C. systems and welding just to name a few of his many talents. He needs no one to "watch over his shoulder" and knows when to ask a question instead of making a mistake. You can always count on him and as a guest you will also be able to count on him to make your voyage a relaxing and worry free journey. Prior to LADY SUSAN, Michael was employed on XYLONEN.
Stewardess: Patricia Santos
Patricia is the "eye for detail" person on LADY SUSAN. Her diligence mixed with making sure everything is impeccable reflects the interior. Repetitious tasks do not “bore her.” On the contrary, she believes her work is a statement that shows her pride in her position. She has maintained the interiors of yachts ranging in size from 80 to 145 feet. The crew of LADY SUSAN intends to keep her for as long as they possibly can because she is a gem.
