Robin holds a MCA 3000-ton License Class VI, GMDSS License, CMAS and P.A.D.I. Rescue Diver, Certificate of service as third Mate of foreign going ship.
Robin hailed from Dorset, South England he now resides in the South of France where he enjoys diving, golf, Formula 1, and motorcycling.
Robin spent ten years with the Merchant Marine before joining the Yachting Industry. For the past twenty-three years Robin has acquired experience on both charter and private vessels and has sailed over 200,000 miles. His main objective is to fulfil the highest expectations of owners, guests and to obtain the respect and loyalty of his crew. Robin has an excellent sense of humour. He is dedicated and enthusiastic about the sea and the Mirabella team.
Robin has been the leader of the Mirabella team for the past three seasons and is looking forward to making this Mediterranean season great. Robin has also captained the following vessels M/Y Ramses, M/Y Picante, S/Y Cinderella, S/Y Provenance and S/Y Lady Anne to name a few.
Engineer: Bill Gray, Nationality Australian
Bill holds an MCA Yacht 4 Engineers Certificate, Diesel Mechanic trade Certificate, AYP Coastal navigation, Padi open water.
Bill is Scottish by birth having grown up in Australia. Bill started his sailing career at an early age having sailed dinghy’s and small yachts.
Bills crowning achievement was to sail his own 40ft yacht in the 2003 Melbourne to Osaka race, double handed yacht race 5,500 nautical miles. He has worked on yachts for the past 3 years having worked as Mate on SY Yannakee Too and Engineer on MY Constance.
Mate: Matthew Hearsum, Nationality: British
Matt holds a MCA Class 4 Professional Yacht-master Unlimited License, British RYA Safety, RYA Basic Diesel Engine Maintenance, and a P.A.D.I. Advanced Dive Certificate.
Matt was part of the HM Forces Royal Marine Commando for six years where he specialized in the Landing Craft Branch. After the Marines he continued his Maritime education in Southampton completing his Class 4. Since joining the Yachting industry Matt has worked for S/Y Fidel, S/Y Mirabella III, M/Y Blue Moon, and S/Y Jacquelina.
Matt is organized and a great team player. This will be Matt’s fourth season onboard. He is Bi-lingual in German, and near fluent in French and Spanish.
Chef: Brit Horstmann. Nationality: German.
Brit completed a year Cordon Bleu Course in Cape Town and then went on to do a Public Relations Degree she also has her STCW 95’.
Brit is originally from Zimbabwe where she grew up on her family farm. Brit went to boarding school in England and then on to High School in Peitermarizburg, South Africa and finally finished up her studying in Cape Town. Brit has spent a great deal time travelling and experiencing different countries and cultures and has used her travelling to open her eyes to new foods, flavours and methods. Knowing her own need for adventure and the outdoors Brit decided to try a job in yachting and has since been hooked. Since joining the industry Brit has worked yachts such as S/Y Timoneer, M/Y Ilatiya, and S/Y Sunny Hill.
This is Brit’s first season onboard Mirabella and is enthusiastic about all the Charters we have and the menus she has planned for them!
Chief Stewardess: Stephanie Naylor. Nationality Irish
Stephanie holds the STCW 95, Business and Finance diploma and Padi Open Water
Stephanie was born in Scotland into a Naval family and spent 3 years within the Naval Sea Cadets in her teenage years, moving to Ireland to spend her senior years of education with her Irish family.
Stephanie has been in and around the yachting industry since 1990. Starting on a casual basis while living in Palma, Mallorca then taking a full time crew position in 1992. Since then she has cruised the West & East coasts of the USA, Several Caribbean seasons, Mexico, Panama Canal, West & Eastern Mediterranean Seas, the Norwegian Fjords and has 11 Atlantic crossings and 3 hurricane experiences to her name.
Stephanie has worked on Motor and Sailing, Private and Charter yachts such as MY D’Natlin II, MY D’Natalin, MY Charade, MY Perfect Prescription, SY Legacy, SY Mikado, MY Sea Sedan, MY RainMaker, MY Matanthar to name but a few.
Stewardess: Kelley Martin. Nationality: American.
Kelley has her STCW 95 and a BA in Business Management.
Kelley grew up in Rhode Island. While attending University she spent her summers in Nantucket working in yacht club. Her curiosity of the sea and the Yachting industry grew leading her to an ocean delivery to the Caribbean where she met the Mirabella. This will be her third season aboard the Mirabella.
Kelley is a much-loved crewmember always happy and willing to assist both crew and guests alike.
Deckhand: Matthew Jeffery, Nationality: British, Age: 23
Matt holds an MCA Yacht-master Offshore (Commercially endorsed) 200-ton license.
Matt grew up on his family farm in Cornwall, Southwest England. Surrounded by the sea, water sports have always been a part of Matt’s life enjoying surfing, sailing and fishing. After finishing his A levels Matt went to Southampton to study Civil Engineering. Whilst at University he took advantage of the large amount of sailing available in the solent and quickly realized that the sea was the place for him.
This is Matt’s first season on board Mirabella and hopefully not his last, as he has become a valued member of the crew.
