Crew Profiles: Captain - Kevin Klar
Kevin hails from New Orleans, LA and Kevin embodies the charm and hospitality of the “Big Easy” city. He previously worked for the owner of ‘BIG PLAY” for seven years and has captained yachts for over twenty years. Kevin has cruised the waters from the Mediterranean to the Pacific and all places and ports in between. Captain Klar is a PADI Dive Master as well and a big promoter of all the water toys on board OHANA. Ask Kevin about his best charter experiences and there is always fun on or in the water involved in every story. You can’t go wrong with Captain Kevin Klar in charge.
Having completed four successful years of chartering OHANA in the Med, New England, Nassau and the Caribbean with very enthusiastic charter clients on board, Kevin once again had families walk away with great memories and experiences of that true “fun in the sun” charter.
Chef – Paul Carlstrom
Before beginning his career on the high sea’s, Paul’s career has led him to work for some of Canada’s most highly rated hotels. The most notable of all these experiences being a three year stint as an Executive Sous Chef at the lodge and hotel Kananaskis in the rocky mountains of Alberta. After this time he became eligible for a new designation and standard for chefs in Canada known as the Certified Chef De cuisine program, which he passed with flying colors. This Canadian government regulated program consisted of six months of advanced culinary preparation and management classes. The standard remains the only government regulated one in North America to rival Europe’s master chef programs.
Paul has worked on various busy charter yachts worldwide, with destinations from the farthest North West Pacific coast of Canada, the Mediterranean, Central America and of course the Caribbean. And although his training was largely of a classical nature, his cuisine ranges as far and wide as his travel experience and it will be his pleasure to provide you with a varied culinary experience whilst aboard M/Y Ohana.
Engineer-Trevor Kmetz
Trevor was born and raised in Miles City, Montana with a family that taught him to hunt, fish and hike in one of the most beautiful areas of “Big Sky” country. Trevor has a background in engineering and is also an avid scuba diver. Trevor’s interest in working on yachts was peaked by his sister who is a Chief Stewardess for the Trinity Yachts fleet. Trevor brings Ohana not only his engineering skills, but his fun loving personality.

Stewardess – Debra Essery
Debra is from South Africa, and spent time honing her hosptitality and service skills at a safari camp in Botswana. She has a degree in psychology and social work.
3rd Stewardess – Heather Radtke
Heather is on break from Northern Michigan University. Having grown up on the shores of Lake Superior she is an avid fan of watersports and the outdoors. She is an experienced downhill and slalom ski racer.
1st Officer - Debora Radtke
Debora worked with Captain Kevin for over 10 years starting as a cook/stewardess and eventually 1st mate on “Big Play”. After captaining her own boats for a couple of years she jumped at the opportunity to work with him on Ohana She grew up racing sail boats on the Great Lakes and has been a licensed captain for 14 years. She is certified as a rescue diver.
Mate – Joey Vilijoen
Joey is from South Africa. He grew up on a farm near the coast in a town called George. Joey loves water sports and is a keen Rugby player, he also loves to travel and has been traveling and working abroad for the last 5 years in England, Scotland and the USA. Joey is a genuine pleasure to have around, as he is always ready to lend a helping hand. He is hardworking and is always up for having fun.
Mate – Cliff Tweeden
Cliff’s friend Trevor encouraged him to follow him to Florida and seek work on yachts. Cliff has caught on quickly and has a keen eye for detail. He always makes sure the guests are accommodated and the water toys are ready. Growing up in Montana, Cliff is an avid hunter and snowboarder.
